After serving as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps at Nellis Air Force Base, Dr. Joseph J. Bongiovi completed his general and plastic surgical training in New York at Nassau County Medical Center.
In 1970, Dr. Bongiovi returned to Las Vegas and opened his office for
plastic surgery. He has held several hospital positions including:

Dr. Bongiovi has held committee appointments in the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (A.S.P.R.S.); Medicare Physicians Advisory Committee for Nevada. In addition he has served as Examiner for the Nevada State Board of Medicine.
Dr. Bongiovi's skills are recognized by his peers, earning him many research and scholastic awards. He has published works in medical, surgical, and research journals on such varied topics as gastrointestinal bleeding, trauma in the battered child syndrome, skin grafting, I.V. fluid therapy in burns, and silicone injection complications.
Dr. Bongiovi has served as visiting Clinician, guest lecturer, and teaching professor lecturing throughout the United States sharing innovative techniques, knowledge and experience with other surgeons and plastic surgeons. He was one of the founders of the Plastic Surgery Society of Las Vegas and served as President for several terms. Dr. Bongiovi is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in New Jersey, California, Idaho, New York, and Nevada.
Dr. Bongiovi received board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1973. He is a member of numerous Medical Societies and Organizations:

Dr. Bongiovi was the first to perform chemical peels and transaxillary (armpit incision) breast augmentation in Las Vegas.
He continues training in the latest state of the art techniques and surgical
procedures, earning proficiency certifications in Laser Surgery
and Endoscopic (minimal incision) Plastic Surgery.
