Fairmont Schools had a unique beginning. It was founded in 1953 by Kenneth W. Holt (a then public school teacher) in response to parental urging to home school 60 students. Because of parents' enthusiastic response to his phonics-based reading program and accelerated teaching methods, enrollment soon caused Holt to search for a larger facility. Two
of our campuses are Anaheim landmarks. The initial Mable Campus was
formerly the Earl Carroll Estate and the Prep Academy is housed on the
Stanton Estate. Upon retirement, Holt's vision of excellence in education
was passed to son David R. Jackson. This vision has led to five dynamic
campuses with ethnically diverse student bodies of preschool through
12th graders. Fairmont now educates some 2,000 students in Anaheim,
Anaheim Hills and the Tustin/Santa Ana area. We
have 50 years of longevity in education providing safe and child-centered
campuses. Our reputation for quality education is verified not only
by superior Stanford 9 and SAT scores, but also by impressive results
in Orange County pentathlon and decathlon competitions. In addition,
our students are accepted by some of the finest colleges/universities
including MIT, Harvard, Stanford and Yale. Fairmont's junior high is
the recipient of the Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award from the United
States Department of Education, its most prestigious educational recognition.
Fairmont offers a values-based, academically sound education which includes computer training, fine arts, and a competitive sports program. In addition, our after-school Fairmont + Academy features a computer-based academic assistance program featuring one-on-one and small group tutorial programs, English language learners courses and internet-based tutorials. Other features include before-and after-school child care with special programs and study halls, food services and transportation to much of Orange County and selected areas of Los Angeles County. Summer school and ACA summer camp programs complete our services. We have a unique approach to education. Due to a phonics-based curriculum, kindergarten and first grade students learn to read and write with confidence. This is the foundation that allows many of our students to enroll and succeed in the AP and IB programs offered by our high school.
Kenneth Holt founded Fairmont Private Schools in 1953. Combining over 20 years experience in public schools with a passion for education, Holt answered local parents desire for an academically sound, values based learning experience for children. From Holts original dream, Fairmont has grown into the largest non-sectarian, co-educational private school in Orange County. In 1991, Fairmont was awarded the Blue Ribbon of Excellence, the highest award designated to schools by the United States Department of Education. Each year students achieve well beyond national and local averages, outscoring public school districts in Stanford 9 and SAT tests. Our Preparatory Academy boasts 100% college acceptance rate with graduates accepted to top universities such as Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, M.I.T., Stanford, UCLA, and Yale.
