The Pasquini Story

It was 1957 in Los Angeles, and Italian tool designer Ambrose Pasquini missed espresso, the rich coffee of his native Milan. He began to import espresso machines and opened a cafe called Moka D’Oro on Vermont Avenue.

The cafe had few customers at first and Pasquini sometimes felt alone in his passion for the small cups of strong coffee. Ambrose Pasquini said. “This coffee had been used forever in Europe, however, and I know it would catch on here.”
